The Story of Our Rebuild: A New Chapter for Beaumont Parish Hall

For more than 75 years, Beaumont Parish Hall has been at the heart of parish life. The original prefabricated building, constructed in 1947, served generations of families, hosted countless celebrations, and provided a welcoming space for community groups, clubs, and social events. But after decades of loyal service, the old hall had reached the end of its life.

In 2023, the community came together to begin an ambitious rebuild, one that would honour the past while creating a modern, accessible, energy‑efficient hall for the future. Thanks to extraordinary local fundraising and generous grant support, Phase 1 replaced the ageing prefab structure with a beautiful new timber‑frame building overlooking the River Eden and the course of Hadrian’s Wall. The new hall is designed to be a modern, low‑energy building that supports community cohesion, wellbeing, and local engagement.

The hall opened on 25th May 2026 with a celebration of the new building and an acknowledgement of all those who had helped with the project.

Phase 2 is now underway. This stage focuses on the essential finishing touches that will make the hall fully inclusive and ready for year‑round use: refurbished toilets, an external‑access toilet for walkers and cyclists, and an automatic front door providing safe, step‑free entry. These improvements respond directly to community consultation and ensure the hall is welcoming to everyone, from toddlers to older residents, from wheelchair users to long‑distance walkers.

Alongside these works, we are completing the new kitchen, with a view to supporting a small community café, something residents have repeatedly told us they want. The café will offer a warm stop for locals and visitors, helping to create a sustainable income stream for the hall.

So far, the community has raised an incredible £318,812 through grants, donations, and local events. With a total project cost of £334,380, we are now working hard to raise a further £36,000 through crowdfunding to complete the project. Every contribution brings us closer to opening the doors of a hall that will serve our parish for generations to come.

This rebuild is more than a construction project, it is a shared effort to strengthen community life, support local wellbeing, and create a welcoming destination for the thousands of walkers and cyclists who pass through our parish each year. Together, we are building a hall that reflects the pride, generosity, and spirit of Beaumont Parish
